KROKODIL

An album containing the first ever recordings by this Swiss heavy kraut/progessive band from the late sixties, released for the first time on 180-gram vinyl. The LP comes in a deluxe gatefold sleeve and includes a DVD called 'KROKODIL - Still A Part Of Me'.
The year was 1968. We were playing, practising and experimenting every single day until late into the night in a basement in the heart of the city of Zürich. We were determined to follow our own musical path.
Meanwhile, Serge Meier was setting up his recording studio on the outskirts of town. The generous financial offer from the cigarette company was too good to refuse. We bought ourselves the amplifiers we needed and recorded our first single, "Camel Is top", with him.
This also led -- in the spring of 1969 -- to the "The First Recordings", now released to the public for the very first time. Teddy Meier, EMI Switzerland's A&R man, travelled to Munich with the tapes and handed them to the renowned producer Siegfried E.Loch. This paved the way for our band's first recording sessions in Germany for the American Liberty label.

Düde Dürst has now assembled photos and film material he painstakingly collected over many years. This DVD contains his exciting account of the Krokodil story. When the 1968 generation took to the streets, armed with Mao's Little Red Book and slogans such as "Don't Trust Anyone over 30", we were on a completely different trip. On the road with a sitar, violin, tambourine and harmonica, the beat, the bass, rhythm and blues, guitars and a keyboard, the congas and drums, we made our own music. Krokodil Music!

Klang und Kleid hat mit dem Schlagzeuger der Band - Düde Dürst - eine Auflage von 1000 Exemplaren herausgeben, schon länger ausverkauft, die letzen Exemplare, wir liefern nur noch 1 Exemplar pro Bestellung und Person!

1968 - in einem Keller, im Herzen der Stadt Zürich - fest entschlossen, eigene musikalische Wege zu gehen, spielten, probten und experimentierten wir Tag für Tag bis tief in die Nacht. Zur gleichen Zeit richtete sich Serge Meier am Rande der Stadt sein eigenes Tonstudio ein. Das viele Geld, das uns von der Zigaretten-firma angeboten wurde, konnten wir nicht ausschlagen. Wir kauften uns die nötigen Verstärker und nahmen bei ihm unsere erste Single "Camel Is Top"auf.
Im gleichen Zug entstanden im Frühjahr 1969 die First Recordings, die nun zum ersten Mal auf Tonträger verfügbar sind. Teddy Meier, A&R Mann bei EMI Schweiz, reiste damals mit diesen Aufnahmen nach München zum berühmten Produzenten Siegfried E. Loch und ermögllichte so unserer Band bald die ersten Recording Sessions in Deutschland für das amerikanische Label Liberty.

Düde Dürst hat nun in langjähriger, sorgfältiger Arbeit, fotografisches und filmisches Material gesammelt und zusammengestellt. Auf der beiliegenden DVD erzählt er uns auf packende Weise die Geschichte vom Krokodil. Als die 68er die Strasse stürmten, bewaffnet mit Mao-Büchlein und Sprüchen wie "Trau keinem über 30", waren wir auf einem ganz andern Trip. Unterwegs mit Sitar, Geige, Tambourin und Mundharmonika, dem Beat, dem Bass, dem Rhythm and Blues, Gitarren und Keyboard, den Congas und Trommeln, machten wir unsere eigene Musik. Krokodilmusik!
